July 2010

Comfort Area Farmers Market Saturday 8am to Noon in the Comfort Park providing fresh home grown vegetables, plants, breads and much much more!   This weekend we will have John and Denise McCurdy (The Fiddlechick and Friends) playing for our enjoyment in the Gazebo. At the Market this week you will find beautifully crafted aprons, totes, creams, soaps and salves. As always wonderful breads and baked goods, preserves, local honey and gift baskets, farm fresh eggs and late winter crops (leeks, greens, lettuce, radishes...). Our spring and summer crops are coming along, we are a couple of weeks behind normal due to the chilly weather! Don't give up hope!!! We have new vendors and are always welcoming more. If you have an idea or suggestion give us a call. We have some yard art for sale as well as some beautiful mulch for your own planting beds. Come on out to the Comfort Park, Buy Local, Eat Local, Make a Great Day! If you would like to join or have questions email or call Jo at 512-736-6766 or queenmama@hctc.net

July 26th Singing Water Vineyards
Calling All Pickers

The experienced Singing Water Picker window for sign up has closed, so harvest is now open to new pickers effective July 26th. We checked the weather forecast, tested the grapes and have the following to report:

Our first harvest day will be our Pinot Grigio on Wednesday August 4th starting at 7AM, (weather permitting).

This is a slight delay due to current sugar readings, projected rate of increase and a forecast of three days of cloudy or rainy weather. We will need about 25 to 30 people on Wednesday August 4th.

Our second, third and fourth harvest days will probably be 2 days of Merlot, followed by Syrah. We think they will be ready sometime between August 13 and 21. We will update, again, after our next grape test.

If you are interested in participating in our harvest as a picker please click the button below and let us know when you would be available to pick and a contact phone number. The remaining spots will be filled on a first come first served basis.
